A spate of server troubles affecting Microsoft services on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows 10 has prevented Xbox Live users from gaining access to core parts of the service. Xbox Live confirmed the issues on Twitter though Microsoft was quick to resolve the troubles.

In particular, Xbox Live users had trouble signing in and purchasing items via the console. Also, Microsoft’s status page indicated a limited access to Xbox Live core services, including creating or retrieving an account, searching, redeeming codes and downloading items. The server issues hit all platforms from the Xbox 360 and Xbox One to the Xbox on Windows 10 and Xbox on mobile devices.

Thankfully, as of this writing, those services are now back to normal. The Xbox Live status page now shows that most functions are accessible again. The core services have been reinstated as well with the sign-in process no longer a major problem. However, the Poker Central on Xbox One still has a limited access. Microsoft’s status page says:

“Hello Xbox members, we are currently experiencing an issue. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back for updates.”

One possible reason for the server trouble was the launch of Mass Effect: Andromeda which required significant server load. Due to the outage, gamers who waited for the title’s release were not able to bur or play the game for a significant period.

For other major games that arrived on the same day, the launch was unfortunate. The outcry was easy to understand since Xbox Live is essential for players and Xbox users. The service provides access to movies and games.
