  • Move the mouse cursor over to the upper right side of the screen.
  • From the menu that appears left click or tap on the Settings feature presented there.
  • From the Settings menu, you need to left click or tap on the Change PC settings feature.
  • Now find and left click or tap on the Update and recovery feature.
  • In the next menu left-click or tap on the Recovery button.
  • Under the topic Refresh your PC without affecting your files, left-click or tap on the Get Started button.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen to finish the system refresh.
  • Now reboot the Windows device after the process has finished.
  • After the device starts, check again to see if your Windows 10 is still slow.

    • 2. Free some HDD disk space

  • If the above step did not solve your issues try freeing up some space on the C: partition where your Windows 10 is installed.
  • Usually, when the operating system moves slow, it is because the hard drive is full.

    Make sure that after you did the system restore you have updated all the hardware drivers.

    4. Restore your system from Control Panel

  • Perform the system restore again and make sure the process goes all the way through.
  • Move the mouse cursor over to the upper right side of the screen.
  • From the menu that appears left click or tap on the Search feature.
  • In the search dialog box write the following: Control panel.
  • After the search has finished you will need to left click or tap on the Control Panel icon.
  • Now, in the search box from the Control Panel window write the following: Recovery.
  • Left click or tap on the Recovery feature after the search has finished.
  • Left click or tap on the Open System Restore feature.
  • Now follow the instructions on the screen properly to bring back your device to an earlier point in time.

    • 5. Run a SFC scan

  • Press and hold the Windows + X keys while on the start screen.
  • From the menu that appears left click or tap on the Command Prompt feature with administrator rights.
    Note: if you are prompted by a user account control window, left-click or tap on the Yes button to allow access.
  • In the Command Prompt window write the following: sfc /scannow.
  • Press the Enter button on the keyboard.
  • Now, wait for the system file checker to complete the process.
    Note: It will fix any issues automatically.
  • After the process has finished, write in the Command Prompt the following: Exit.
  • Press the Enter button on the keyboard.
  • Reboot your Windows 10 device.
  • After the device starts, check again if the operating system is still slow.
