If you enrolled in the Skip Ahead Windows Insider Program, you’ll definitely have a busy weekend ahead testing Windows 10 build 17618.
Judging by the release notes of this build, it is clear that Microsoft’s priority is to fix as many bugs as possible. Build 17618 brings only one major feature to the table, namely Sets. You can read more about the complete list of bug fixes and improvements on Microsoft’s blog.
However, Windows 10 build 17618 also features some issues of its own that you should be aware of before deciding to install it.
Windows 10 build 17618 bugs
- Windows Mixed Reality runs at a 8-10 FPS.
- Windows Mixed Reality may crash at startup. Well, if you often use WMR, perhaps it’s best to just skip this build. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program > select ‘Stop Insider Preview builds’> click on the ‘Pause updates for a bit’ option.
- The Microsoft Store App won’t work or is missing completely. Fortunately, you can get the Store App back by running this command in PowerShell (run it as Administrator):Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml”}
You can then restart your computer and check if the app is available.
- The Settings page crashes if you click on any Microsoft Store links or tips.

Well, these are the only bugs known to affect build 17618. So far, Insiders haven’t reported any other issues.
Microsoft will soon launch Windows 10 Spring Creators Update, so this means that the upcoming builds will focus primarily on fixing bugs and making the OS as stable and reliable as possible. In other words, there will be fewer and fewer new features for Insiders to test.
