Skype is a well-known and pretty popular video chat platform owned by Microsoft that’s received a bit of love in the last days.

The application’s new browser tool is aimed at the small businesses. Skype Meeting is a free, web-based option to facilitate group video chats. Skype Meetings will allow small companies to enjoy a few more features that subscribers for Skype for Businesses usually do.

Skype Meeting supports video chats with up to ten people for the first two months and reduces that limit to just three. In addition, while using the Skype Meetings, you will be able to integrate PowerPoint presentations, screen sharing and more.

As you probably already know, these features are also included in Skype for Business, but it seems that Microsoft wants to make sure small businesses get a complete idea about what they could get by giving them a trial version of the service via Skype Meetings. Since Skype Meetings doesn’t require an app, users will be able to share a link to join a video chat inside their web browser.

Anyone in the U.S. that has a business email address that doesn’t already subscribe to Office 365 can sign-up for free Skype Meetings. However, after the two months trial period, these companies will need to get Office 365 or they will be limited to only three users.

Skype Offline Sharing

To make things even better, Skype’s standard applications have now the ability to share files with users even when they’re offline. In other words, if someone is offline on Skype and you want to send them a file, you will be able to do it. Once they connect to the internet and open the Skype application, they’ll be able to download that file. Just keep in mind the 300MB offline file limit, and you’ll be gold.
